A Little Bit About Me...
Becoming a Virtual Assistant gave me the freedom to travel the world, work on my own terms, and create a life I genuinely love. Now, I’m passionate about helping other VAs and aspiring VAs take control of their futures, achieve their goals, and build the fulfilling lifestyle they deserve.
Hi, I’m Lisa! I’ve always had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and back in 2004, I launched my first business—a laundry company I ran for a decade. Like so many business owners, I thought I had to do it all myself. Sound familiar? It wasn’t until much later that I realised I was standing in my own way, and by then, my passion for the business had faded.
In 2014, I sold Laundry Ladies and moved on to managing a charity. I spent eight incredible years there, but when the Covid pandemic arrived, it made me stop and think deeply about my future. I asked myself what would truly make me happy. I discovered my answer: I wanted the freedom to travel and create a life that felt meaningful and joyful.
In 2020, I realised I needed a job that would let me work from anywhere. One sleepless night at 3 a.m., I found myself at my desk, scrolling through remote job options. That’s when I stumbled into the world of Virtual Assistance.
I quickly saw that being a VA wasn’t enough—I wanted to grow beyond that. I had big goals, and to achieve them, I needed to build something bigger. I spent a year freelancing, learning the ropes, and in September 2021, I founded L.T. VA Services LTD.
A year later, I took a leap of faith. I listed my house on Airbnb, moved my family into a static caravan to save money, and started homeschooling my two boys. In October 2022, we embarked on a five-month journey through Southeast Asia, and I scaled my VA agency while on the road.
I had the most amazing time travelling, but I couldn't have done it without my incredible team!
When I launched L.T. VA Services, I made a key decision right from the start: I brought on an assistant and two associates. I’d learned the hard way from my first business—trying to do everything alone for 10 years was what held me back. This time, I knew that if I wanted my VA agency to succeed and grow quickly, I needed to trust and rely on others.
It wasn’t always smooth sailing. There were moments when I was paying my team before I could even pay myself. But I believed in the business, and I believed in myself. I knew that this was the quickest path to real success.
Since then I've become an award winning VA agency and three times finalist. I've built my team of associates and in 2024 launched the More Than A VA Instagram community channel.
I see it all the time—new VAs launching their businesses with so much enthusiasm, only to find themselves stuck and struggling to gain traction. I believe in collaboration over competition and am passionate about helping all virtual assistants succeed.
To support VAs, I started the VA Live Lounge—a weekly Instagram Live where virtual assistants from around the world can join in, ask questions, and get the guidance they need. Each session is also released as a podcast, making it easy for VAs to access the advice and support they need, no matter where they are or what their schedule looks like.
But the most exciting milestone in my VA journey has been launching the More Than A VA Membership—a thriving community that empowers virtual assistants to grow, learn, and achieve their goals together.
